Roald Dahl writes stories to make us smile and laugh. The Twits is one of these.
Mr and Mrs Twit are horrible people who love being nasty to each other. Add to the story some monkeys and a roly poly bird and there is plenty of action.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums. We did some great writing in class and hopefully all the posters made it home for Sunday. It was lovely to hear the children talking about their mum – sincere, entertaining and a privilege.
Our upper school Cross Country Run was on Friday afternoon, May 6th. The 9 and 10 year old students ran 2km. The 11 and 12 year olds ran 3kms. The lower school ran their races in the morning. Mrs Davey did a great job organising and had the help of many parents.
Well done to everyone in 3/4 B who competed. All that training helped, especially for the kids that trained with effort and consistency. 2km is a long way, so to run and finish the race is a great achievement. Congratulations to all the place getters who thoroughly deserved their medals and ribbons.
What are your thoughts girls and boys? How did you feel?
Wow! You should see our yard at recess and lunch time. There are kids skipping everywhere. The new ropes Mrs Davey has got from the Jump Rope people are terrific.
Skipping is such a good way to get fit and to raise money for a good cause. Our school Epsom will also receive back half of what we raise.
3/4 B have their own page and some students have created their own as well.
What is your favourite skipping style girls and boys? What have you mastered? What are you hoping to learn?
Welcome back everyone! I hope you had a great holiday and ate lots of chocolate!!
This term will be busy…..
Our Inquiry unit will include Anzac Day and What does it mean to be Australian?
Last Wednesday I went to Box Hill Town Hall in Melbourne and attended an Australian Citizenship Ceremony. 140 people became Australian citizens that night. I wonder what being an Australian citizen means to them? They had to make a pledge and were sworn in. They received a certificate and an Australian native tree to plant. A band played Australian songs and folk music. The Mayor and politicians made speeches. I found it very interesting and people were very, very happy and couldn’t stop smiling.
While I was in Melbourne I ate some great food…Vietnamese,Indian and Italian. To me that’s being Australian…embracing different cultures and enjoying all the wonderful food we have here because of our migrants.
